The Opportunity
A rare opportunity has become available within the Cherrie Civil team for a full time on site role for an experienced Project Engineer to join our team and contribute to our continued success. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving the culture of Cherrie Civil Engineering, while managing project timelines, budgets, and client relationships effectively.
What You’ll Do
- Plan, coordinate, and deliver civil construction projects from concept through to completion — ensuring works are executed safely, efficiently, and to specification.
- Lead and support site supervisors, foremen, and graduate engineers to achieve outstanding safety, quality, and environmental outcomes.
- Oversee day-to-day site operations, scheduling, and resource management to ensure timelines and budgets are met.
- Manage subcontractors, suppliers, and procurement activities, ensuring compliance with company procedures and contract requirements.
- Monitor and report on project progress, risks, costs, and variations — proactively identifying opportunities for improvement and mitigation.
- Drive quality assurance processes, including ITPs, audits, and compliance with ISO standards.
- Collaborate closely with clients and stakeholders to maintain strong relationships and deliver successful project outcomes.
- Review project documentation, design plans, and risk assessments to ensure accuracy and alignment with company standards.
- Lead toolbox talks, site meetings, and performance discussions that promote communication, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Contribute to business growth by promoting innovation, sharing best practices, and supporting the professional development of your team.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering
- 5–10 years’ experience in civil engineering
- Currently reside in Sydney and be able to travel across sites
- Proven ability to manage site activities, teams, and subcontractors
- Strong understanding of WHS, QA, and environmental management systems
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- A proactive mindset with a focus on risk mitigation, quality, and continual improvement
