Description of project: Lowering of Hospital Road to facilitate access to the new Randwick IASB development. The project included a complex sequencing of diverting, replacing and amplifying existing live hospital and public service infrastructure whilst maintaining critical services to a functioning hospital.
Scope:
Upgrade and diversion of 100m of 225mm Sydney Water sewer including construction of 7no manholes up to 6m deep
Construction of 150m of 750mm RCP stormwater including pits
Design and diversion of live Hospital services including medical gas, natural gas, potable water, fire, sprinkler, communications, and low voltage electrical services
Design and construction of 100m of cantilevered shoring wall (contiguous piles), up to 10m exposed face
Design and construction of retaining walls, stairs, foot paths and a fire booster structure
Design and construction of 17no foundation piles to support a future overhead bridge and building structures
Demolition of existing surfaces and shoring wall up to 5.5m high
Bulk and detailed excavation after service diversions and piling
Bonded and friable asbestos removal
Construction of 1500m2 of rigid and flexible pavements
Value of Contract: $13 million
