OVERVIEW
Stephen Cherrie is the Founder and Managing Director of Cherrie Civil Engineering, leading the business since its establishment in January 2015. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering and has more than 25 years’ experience across civil engineering, construction and business management.
Stephen began his career gaining hands on experience in the field and progressed through senior leadership roles including Estimator, Engineer, Project Manager, Regional Manager and Director – Construction. In 2010, he was appointed a Director of the Ward Group of companies and has served as a Board Member of the Civil Contractors Federation from 2017 to 2025.
With a strong focus on safety, quality delivery and long-term relationships, Stephen has been directly involved in a wide range of civil construction projects. His experience spans excavation and earthworks, airport and road works, remediation projects (including asbestos and contaminated sites), seawalls, subdivisions and industrial site upgrades. This breadth of exposure has underpinned his strong capabilities in project management, financial control, programming, problem solving and technical delivery.
Stephen leads Cherrie Civil Engineering with clearly defined values of honesty, integrity, loyalty, hard work and accountability, fostering trusted relationships at every level of the business.
