Description of project: Cherrie Civil Engineering were engaged to complete the bulk excavation and shoring to facilitate construction of the new Sydney Children’s Hospital Stage 1 and Minderoo Children’s Comprehensive Cancer Centre.
Scope:
Design and installation of 650+ contiguous shoring piles and foundation piles
Capping beam and concrete floodwall construction
Design and installation of temporary anchors and walers
Bulk excavation of 50,000m3 including off-site disposal of VENM (sand/ sandstone), GSW and ACM
Detail excavation of over 1000m3 of beams, benches, and thickenings
Sydney Water sewer diversions and manhole construction
Design and installation of OSD and associated stormwater works
Value of Contract: $14.5 million
